Presidents Message
Friends of the Savannah Post,
It is an honor to serve as your President for the 2026 to 2027 term.
The Society of American Military Engineers was founded in 1920 to lead collaboration among government and industry in support of our national security. More than a century later, that purpose holds. SAME unites military, government, academia, and industry across the architecture, engineering, construction, environmental, and facility management fields, and advances three goals that guide everything we do: Drive Partnerships, Deliver Solutions, and Develop People. Our Post is where those goals come to life in coastal Georgia.
The Savannah Post has been at this work for a long time. We were founded in 1946, and this year we mark our 80th anniversary. What one of our founders called an acorn has grown into something deep-rooted and lasting, much like the live oaks this city is known for. Eight decades of partnership among the Savannah District, our military and government leaders, and the industry that supports them.
My priorities for the year follow those same three goals. On partnerships, we will deepen our industry-government engagement, the work that makes this Post worth belonging to. On solutions, we will keep delivering real value to our individual members and the organizations they represent, anchored by events like our Annual Program Review, which brings government and industry together for genuine technical exchange. And on people, we will invest deliberately in our Young Members, so this Post is a professional home and not just a place to network.
None of it happens without you. If you have ever thought about getting more involved, reach out. There is no contribution too small, and this Post runs on the members willing to show up.
